African builders, in shared virtual space.

When Mathew Munyao stepped into the metaverse in 2021, he noticed there were no Africans in the space. So in 2022 he started Metameta Club in Nairobi. We've hung African art in virtual galleries in Decentraland and dressed avatars in African heritage wearables, because our stories should be told by us.

Our stories, in our hands.

“…to tell and preserve real African stories and history… recorded and written by Africans themselves.”
From our 2022 summit notes

01Great Zimbabwe bird. A study after the carved soapstone birds of Great Zimbabwe.
02Kente-inspired weave. After the strip-woven kente cloth of Ghana's Asante and Ewe weavers.
03Swahili carved door. After the carved doorways of Lamu, on Kenya's coast.

Stylised 3D studies, not replicas
